What is Hollow Core
Hollow core slabs are pre-stressed floor products with either round or shaped voids, depending on local requirements. The hollow core slabs can be either extruded or slipformed. Used in the construction of floors in multi-story apartment buildings. Hollow core precast slabs are reinforced with prestressed cables and fiber mesh. The process involves extruding wet concrete along with the prestressed steel wire rope from a moving mold. Hollow core typically spans:
- 8-inch depth hollowcore plank: 29-foot spans.
- 10-inch depth hollowcore plank: 35-foot spans.
- 12-inch depth hollowcore plank: 40-foot spans.
- 16-inch depth hollowcore plank: 50-foot spans.
